Ghost Recon: Future Soldier

Post by Envy661 on Sat Mar 19, 2011 4:57 am

This is my current most anticipated Console game. I can't wait until it comes out.
Watch this video and you may see why I find it so epic:

I can't say that I've played many Tom Clancy games but I have to admit this premise does have me intrigued. I'm looking forward to seeing how the stealth will factor into to a shooter of this type.

Having Played Splinter Cell, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, Splinter Cell: Double Agent, Splinter Cell: Conviction, Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2, and Rainbow Six Vegas 2, I must say I think this game will be damn close to perfect. The only thing that worries me is general multiplayer, because the gameplay is more inclined toward Rainbow Six rather than Ghost Recon, and Rainbow Six has great Co-Op and mediocre multiplayer.

The stealth element in this looks like it will make the game too easy. I can easily see walking through the majority of the first part without killing anyone, and could even see the scripted scene of you killing the last guy on the pier as being somewhat if not totally unneeded. A lot of this looks incredibly scripted, which is one of the big things I've never liked about Tom Clancy games. The settings, story, and gameplay always scream, if not demand, open world battlefields with unscripted bursts of random action. However almost every Tom Clancy game is delivered on rails, in a line, with each set of events meticulously scripted without any given leeway.

The last two Ghost Recon games (Advance Warfighter 1 & 2) have been the worst offenders in this category, downright forcing you to choose specific hallways, doors, streets, and paths which might even seem counter-intuitive to your own personal preferences without giving you any other options. While it's hard not to appreciate the story and clean polish these games have, it's often hard to play them more than once. That said, I look forward to seeing the reviews to see if this is as "on rails" as I think it is, but right now, I'm not excited.

Oh, I can tell you right now, from the very beginning Ghost Recon was stealth-based. The name speaks for itself, doesn't it? I mean, you've got games like Splinter Cell and such, which revolve around stealth, but at least you can afford to get shot more than once!

I just wish they'd make another Rainbow Six. >:C

I was actually hoping for another Ghost Recon over a new Rainbow Six, mainly because I prefer the 3rd person style game Ghost Recon is (mainly because I rape in every 3PS game there is aside from Gears, which sucks anyway).
